Angela Price ( in memory of Yassi )
My Story
I lost my beautiful daughter yasmin in April 2021 she felt she could no longer live in our world no more, my heart has been completely ripped apart and the past year has been absolutely horrendous,
No parent should go thru the pain and trauma of getting a knock on the door from the police to tell you your child has died
i suffer from PTSD and insomnia since Yassi left my anxieties are thru the roof I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone
We are still going thru various investigations and yet to have Yasmins inquest, the charity you raise me up have supported us since losing yasmin, Yasmin's brother has received counseling thru you raise me up and in time I may be ready to start counseling thru them
Doing this skyjump is totally out my comfort zone, I'm absolutely terrified!! but I will be doing this for Yassi and to raise much needed funds for you raise me up
I would like to raise awareness to mental health in young people and suicide awareness, Yassi you never will be forgotten, I just want to make you proud 💜
here's a little bit of information from the amazing charity " you raise me up "
You Raise Me Up supports families after the death of a child aged 16-25.
The aim of the charity is to be able to provide compassion, support and simply to be able to say we totally understand rather than we cannot imagine what you are going through.
The You Raise Me Up charity was founded by the late Jane Brooks and her husband Fraser in June 2011 after the death of their daugther Megan just days before her 18th Birthday.
We have trained, experienc.ed counsellors available including child and adolescent counsellors to help you through these dark times. We also run monthly support groups, where you can meet other families going through similar emotions and by coming together you will start to feel less alone. We also now run an advice and signposting service from our Support Centre.
We are based in East Sussex and support families from East & West Sussex and Kent.
In the last 10 years the charity has grown from being run by an amazing group of people in their conservatory to a dedicated team that runs a support centre and office. The roots that were planted in the beginning have grown and are very strong, with the heart of our beliefs that drive us forward, always staying the same.
The service and support we offer has grown. The mental health impact of the death of a child on surviving family members is huge. Our charity support them to survive that and stabilise their mental wellbeing enabling them to function again in everyday life and support their lives going forward. We have a multiple purpose of support, all aimed at holding families together. Grief is a lonely journey and making friends with others who have that shared experience and support each other is vital.
